Sustainability is of central importance in today's world. In view of global ecological challenges, we have recognized that we must pay particular attention to production processes in order to operate in an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient manner. For us, this means using sustainable materials, minimizing waste and emissions, and promoting social responsibility. These measures not only help to protect the environment, but also contribute to the creation of high-quality, durable furniture that will last for generations while supporting a conscious and sustainable lifestyle.

In the long term

Quality is a tradition at Bretz. For over 130 years, we have been synonymous with exceptional upholstery manufacturing. This claim is firmly anchored in our self-image. Carefully selected materials, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to comfort and innovation characterize every cushion, every sofa, and every bed that we manufacture entirely by hand in Germany. The result is durable, characterful products that are far removed from the mainstream, mass-produced goods, and uniformity.

The wooden frames of our furniture are made in Upper Franconia and form the stable foundation for long-lasting quality. For our upholstered furniture, we use hand-picked, exclusive velour fabrics that give it its distinctive character. We source our high-quality fabrics mainly from Italy, Germany, and Belgium.

Out of ethical conviction, we consistently refrain from using animal materials such as leather or down. Instead, we rely on carefully selected textile materials and process them with the utmost precision. Our careful use of materials begins with the design. We plan our cuts so that fabrics are used efficiently and waste is avoided as much as possible. Remaining fabrics are used to make smaller cushions, among other things, in order to reuse resources responsibly.

Care as a principle

Our production takes place in Germany, at our company headquarters in Gensingen. Regional manufacturing enables short delivery routes and helps to reduce the amount of gray energy to a minimum. Thanks to our new solar power system installed in 2024, we use the solar energy of the Rhine-Hessian Tuscany to supply our production with sustainable energy. This allows us to make our manufacturing processes resource-efficient and energy-efficient.

The choice of high-quality materials and craftsmanship in manufacturing results in durable products of the highest quality. Products that last a long time need to be replaced less often and are therefore an essential part of sustainable business practices.

Preserving values such as cohesion, respect, and trust is a matter of course for us. Fair employment and fair wages are just as much a part of this as open discourse and constructive engagement with different points of view.

We treat our employees, customers, and partners as equals. We value a friendly, personal, and informal approach in our cooperation as well as in our services. As an internationally active brand, we are aware of our social and global responsibility. That is why we structure our business relationships to be as socially equitable and ecologically responsible as possible.

In addition, we have voluntarily introduced a risk management system. It is based on the concept of the Association of the German Furniture Industry and the German Furniture Quality Association and is guided by the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. This enables us to identify and assess human rights and environmental risks early on, both within our own company and throughout our entire supply chain, and to take appropriate measures.
